Our mission is to foster a closer relationship between parents and the school, so that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of our 3rd through 5th grade students. The Cider Mill PTA works toward this goal through educational programs for parents, teachers and the community, as well as supporting programs that enrich and enhance each child's educational experience at Cider Mill. Cider Mill PTA Board List Spirit Wear Hot Cider Newsletter Cider Mill PTA Fundraising PTA Children's Enrichment Programs Cider Mill PTA Gifts and Grants Program | PTA News Briefs BUDGET PROCESS/NEWS Click for Budget News Issue 2 compiled by the Wilton PTA Council Budget Committee With regard to the budget for the Wilton Public Schools, Dr. Richards (Superintendent of Schools), the Board of Education (BOE), and the Board of Finance are involved in budget planning for 2010-201. Dr. Richards has already presented preliminary budgets to the BOE at study sessions held over the last couple of months. BOF members were in attendance at these study sessions. The proposed 2.85% budget, while an increase in dollars over last year, provides a DECREASE in educational programs and services as compared to last year. For more information on the cuts that have been made thus far please go to the Wilton Public School's District Web Site www.wilton.k12.ct.us and click on the "District Information" tab on the left side. Then click on "Budgets & Reports" at the top of the page. Scroll down to the "Board of Education Study Session December 17" document. At the end of this document, you may find explanations of what was cut to reach a 2.85% budget. Also of importance, you can find what the proposed cuts will be if the BOE recommends the budget needs to be cut further. You may also find the BOE questions submitted before the study sessions interesting-they are located on the "Budget & Reports" page. The answers provided by Dr. Richards and his staff provide very specific information that can be helpful in understanding the budget discussions. Now is the time to communicate with our town boards. If you have concerns or opinions, please email the BOE (BOE@wilton.k12.ct.us) and the BOF (BoardofFinance@wiltonct.org) to let them know your priorities. The decisions made during the budget process will affect how our children are educated for a very long time.
